Research into band members

I decided to do some research into the two main band members of MGMT, in order to gain some background information on the two and fully understand why they create the genre of music they do.


Andrew VanWyngarden


Born Febuary 1st, 1983 (28 years old)

He is the lead vocalist, guitar player and the song writer for MGMT, described by “Interview Magazine” for having an “uncanny knack for producing pop music that sounds as if it were filtered through a kaleidoscope.” “Kids”, arguably one of the most popular songs he has wrote received a Grammy nomination in 2010 for best pop performance. He has stated in interviews that “Kids” is one of the first songs that they produced together, which they released under their new name MGMT and not The Management. Also Andrew was on NME cool list in 2008, he came in as number 3, underneath Jay Z and Alice Glass.

Benjamin Goldwasser

Born December 17th, 1982 (29 years old)

He is a singer and keyboard player in the psychedelic rock band MGMT. In 2009, his song "Electric Feel" won a Grammy Award in the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category. Both band mates hail from New York’s Brooklyn borough, they met at Wesleyan university, where they decided to form the band ‘The Management’ which they later abbreviated to MGMT.
